Project Outline:
In this 5 day workshop we will be looking into personal experience through an exploration of the night (as both a space and an entity). With a predominant focus on writing and image making, we will hold various writing exercises, external field trips and proposed tasks that will engage with the personal and then to the universal.

As artists and designers, our experience within the night has always been one which catapults into another understanding of spacial time and identity. Enquiring into this relationship between the night and the artist, we propose the idea of creating works within both interior and exterior spaces. Thinking on ideas pertaining to “the city at night” and “the natural night” we shall go further in exploring positions and voices in writing, from autobiography to fiction, public experience to private perception, all in an attempt at fleshing out an identity from and within the night.

The final outcome will take the form of a publication and launch evening (documenting our collated material) alongside an exhibition presenting writing excerpts, images and works from our nightly exercises.

Night 1: Monday 4th November:

Night 2: Tuesday 5th November: 
4.00 – 8.00 pm (please bring with you any materials for a field trip exercise)

6.00pm – Meet in Victoria (field trip)
walk to location of artwork
6.30pm – writing exercises
Travel back to RCA

Night 3: Wednesday 6th November:
4.00 – 8.00 pm
4.00 pm – Meet in Battersea Park at the central bandstand (field trip)
4.00 – 5.00 pm – Writing exercises
5.30 – Arrive back at RCA
5.30 – 6.30pm – Writing exercises
Travel back to RCA

Night 4: Thursday 7th November: 
4.00 – 8.00 pm
Critique of the work we are having in the publication.
6.30 – 8.00 pm – Discuss and plan exhibition

Night 5: Friday 8th November:
BRING IN FINAL WORKS TO INSTALL
