Madelaine Dowd

Madelaine Dowd is a Social Innovation Designer and entrepreneur. She has built up several award winning companies based on her design research methodologies to real world problems. Her human centred design has resulted in patented technologies and awards including one from InnovateUK for her innovation and entrepreneurship.
Madelaine’s background started in designing for disasters following a collaboration whilst studying her BA in Interior and Spatial Design at the University of the Arts London, Chelsea. She became part of a team designing tsunami escape routes in the coast of Japan and continued to provide her unique problem solving to more challenges. She graduated from the Royal College of Art following her MA in Information Experience Design (Experimental Design) to set up her first company Helm Innovation Ltd. In 2021 she co-founded her second company, the Cross Design Studio, which supports early stage start-ups and research projects focused on solving design challenges to have an impact on the planet and people.
