Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr Amy Corcoran is an artist and researcher whose creative practice oscillates around human rights, ecology, interspecies dynamics and the more-than-human, and incorporates film, photography, sound and installation. Amy recently completed a four-month artist residency focused on humanity’s relationship to the biosphere, and has exhibited and presented extensively, including in Geneva, Melbourne, Bergen and Malmö, and for prestigious institutions such as Tate Modern.

Amy’s background is in psychology, and in particular child mental health. She then moved to undertake a master’s degree in human rights law before completing her ESRC-funded PhD in law at Queen Mary University of London. Her doctoral research explored connections between creative practices and social movements, with a particular emphasis on opening up space for wider public engagement in complex societal discussions. Amy’s interests lie in the nexus between art, nature and wellbeing; she previously coordinated a wellbeing referral programme for undergraduate students and has facilitated numerous nature-based solutions projects.
